Welcome to The New Vegan Table
Gastronomy refers to the study of food and the culture related to it. What better illustration 0f the relationship between food and a culture than veganism?
This site is the manifestation of my passion for good food, vegan lifestyle, and, ergo, good vegan food. Moreover it is a way I can share my culinary creations, explorations, and travels with other vegans, and show the rest of the world that a vegan diet does not mean giving up on eating well. Here you will find my personal creations as well as reviews of products and restaurants, and other articles relating to cooking and vegan culture.
As I’m sure is true for many people, one of the things that held me back from becoming vegan was the fear that I would not be able to eat well, and that I would not be ale to go out to eat. That, combined with the fact that I was vegetarian at a time when my parents were beginning the Atkin’s diet, led me to expand my cooking repertoire and experiment with vegan baking and cooking. I soon discovered it was easy to create wonderful culinary creations that even my ham bacon and cheese loving family couldn’t stay away from. Seven or so years later I have never looked back and never felt better. My mission is to make vegan eating a viable option for everyone, even if it is for only a couple meals a week.
Over the years I have held a fair number of cooking jobs, ranging from the decidedly vegan un-friendly environment of the pastry kitchen at Tom Douglas Restaurants , to a wheat and gluten free bakery. My passion has always been for pastry, but I’m no stranger to a grill or skillet, so you can expect to see a range of recipes presented here.
Enjoy!
